Italian and Austrian sides, covers an area of immense geological value.<\/p>\n<p>Bearing in mind that in Italy, the only rocks that represent the almost total Palaeozoic succession emerge along the North-East border, or in some of the local fossil sites\u2013 the massif of Mount Coglians, the Pian di Lanza, Pramollo\/Na\u00dffeld \u2013 are among the most important in the class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<h3>A unique geological history<\/h3>\n<p>If the Carnic Ridge undoubtedly represents the <em>core area<\/em> of the Geopark, there are numerous other areas and sites, in the surrounding valleys, that offer the possibility to get to know and admire extraordinary geomorphological, paleontological speleological peculiarities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-5143-0-1-4\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-last-child\" data-index=\"5\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>The Transfrontier Geopark of the Carnic Alps, that has established a close collaboration between Italian and Austrian institutions, was founded to enhance the value of this heritage and to encourage the circulation of knowledge \u2013 and people \u2013 between the two sides of the mountain ridge. Therefore, the unity of the geological history of the Carnic Alps that the geopolitical boundaries has divided is focused on.<\/p>\n<p>Geology does not involve the study of man-made
