Keineswegs, das Land wird derzeit von einem Touristenboom ohnegleichen heimgesucht. Auch der Naturwissenschaftliche Verein erkundete den Westteil der Insel. Er hat viel zu bieten: eindrucksvolle Fjorde, die geologische Grenze zwischen Europa und Amerika, bizarre vulkanische Gesteine und Lavafelder, Geysire und hei\u00dfe Quellen, tosende Wasserf\u00e4lle, vogelreiche Steilk\u00fcsten und gr\u00fcne Wiesen, aber auch \u00d6dland in der Hochebene. Hier lebt und rumort die Erde wie sonst nirgends.
